Commission for organisers in Hoopla

As an organiser with Hoopla, we want to provide you with as much value as possible. That’s why we offer commission as an additional benefit – either as a promotion for new organisers or through a fixed agreement we set up together. Commission can seem a little complicated, so on this page we explain how it works, what you can gain from it, and how we calculate and pay it.

How Commission Works

When you sell tickets online through Hoopla, your audience pays a small ticket fee per ticket. The commission you earn is a percentage of this ticket fee.

For example: if the ticket fee is £2 per ticket and your commission is 50%, you earn £1 extra per ticket you sell.

Note: Commission applies only to the ticket fee for tickets sold online. Any additional services (such as payment methods or ticket delivery), optional fees, or withdrawal fees are not included in the calculation.

When and How Commission is Paid

Commission is paid at the start of the month after your event has taken place – provided the conditions are met. This payment is separate from ticket revenue, and we will send you a breakdown showing how the amount was calculated.

Some agreements have a maximum cap on commission. Once this is reached, commission stops accruing for further sales.

For example: if a ticket you sell has a ticket fee of £3, and the agreement has a commission cap of £3,000, you can sell 1,000 tickets before the cap is reached.

Conditions for Earning Commission

If you have an active commission agreement with Hoopla, the following conditions must be met for a ticket sale to count toward commission:

  • The event must have taken place.
  • The ticket must not be invalidated.
  • The ticket must not be refunded.

Additional Conditions for Promotional Agreements

Promotional agreements apply only to new organisers. If you have previously sold tickets through Hoopla, you are not eligible for the promotion. New accounts are reviewed by us, and the agreement will be withdrawn if the terms are violated.

Types of Commission Agreements

“First Event free” Promotion

This is a campaign for new organisers, where you receive 100% commission on the ticket fee for your first paid event hosted in our system. In other words, we pay the entire ticket fee back to you.

Note: There are criteria for an event to count as your “first”, so the commission cannot be shown with complete accuracy until tickets are uploaded and sales have begun. You will see a preliminary estimate in your organiser account. This estimate may change based on new information.

Fixed Commission Agreement

Hoopla can offer organisers running regular events (e.g., festivals, venues, conferences, sports clubs) a fixed commission agreement with a set period. You receive a fixed commission rate that applies to all tickets sold during the agreement’s validity period.
